Know your rights and obligations
We believe in and exercise Privacy by Design and by Default. We encourage you to do the same and to read more about the Data Protection Act, the General Data Protection Regulation and your rights. Even now as Data Protection and Privacy becomes intertwined with our everyday lives, we know that it can be difficult to understand and to achieve. Thankfully, resources like the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) provide timely, relevant and understandable resources to help you understand your rights and your legal obligations. The ICO is the UK's independent authority set up to uphold information rights in the public interest, promoting openness by public bodies and data privacy for individuals. How we collection your information
We collect information about you:
- when you sign up to, or participate in, services or online content on our website, mobile site or mobile apps (each a 'Site' and together the 'Sites');
- when you connect with us via Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn or other social networking site;
- the nature of the device you are using, for example, whether you are accessing the Site from a personal computer or from a mobile device;
- if you contact us, we may keep a record of that correspondence;
- when you visit a Site (see also under Cookies below).
How we use your information
We use your information to provide our activities, services or online content to you and to support your relationship with us. We use your information collected from a Site to personalise your repeat visits to that Site. We may also use aggregate information and statistics for the purposes of monitoring usage of our Sites in order to help us to develop our Sites. We may disclose your personal information to third parties if:
- we sell or buy any business or assets, in which case we may disclose your personal information to the prospective seller or buyer of such business or assets;
- b00t consultants Ltd. or substantially all of its assets are acquired by a third party, in which case personal information held by it about its users and customers will be one of the transferred assets;
- or to protect the rights, property, or safety of b00t consultants Ltd., our clients, or others.
Marketing and advertising
Our core business is not advertising or marketing and we do not sell your data for advertising or marketing purposes nor do we conduct automated decision-making including profiling. However, you may receive information about b00t consultants through third party sites, such as a social media site like LinkedIn, where you have opted-in to receive news, events and other information about b00t consultants. For example, if we post a news article on LinkedIn, and you have opted-in to receive news updates from us on LinkedIn, you may be able to view that news article. If you do not wish to receive information from us through third party Sites, you must review your own privacy settings on the third party Site.
All personal information you provide to us is stored on secure servers. Some of the data processors we engage to process personal data may have servers located outside of the European Economic Area (EEA). We will ensure that any transfer outside the EEA is subject to contractual provisions and administrative, technical and physical security measures to protect it from authorised access and use. Please note, however, that whilst we will use all reasonable efforts to safeguard your personal information, you acknowledge that the use of the internet is not entirely secure and for this reason we cannot guarantee the security or integrity of any personal information which is transferred over the internet.
We currently set the following cookies:
Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics – the web analytics service provided by Google Inc. - in order to understand how visitors to each Site use that Site. The Google Analytics cookies remember you from one page request to the next, for example to differentiate between 'new' and 'returning' visitors. We receive reports from Google Inc. about website usage (such as the number of visitors to each Site or the number of unique page views). Access to information
The General Data Protection Regulation gives rights to individuals to access information held about them. Your right of access can be exercised in accordance with the Act and the GDPR. Information we hold about you must be given to you in a commmonly used format and you have the right to ask us to: give you access to your information; rectify or correct information; erase any information that we hold about you; restrict our processing of your information and the right to object; and, the right to data portability. We do not conduct automated decision-making including profiling. An appropriate access request is not subject to a fee and will receive a response within one month. Note that the GDPR gives us the right to refuse or charge for requests that are manifestly unfounded or excessive. When information can be withheld
There are some situations when we are allowed to withhold information, for example if the information is about: the prevention, detection or investigation of a crime; national security or the armed forces; the assessment or collection of tax; judicial or ministerial appointments.
